Long ago when the earth was young, neolithic man decided he needed to make a CMM, and so he carved it from solid granite. Amazingly some manufacturers still use that approach! This may seem acceptable for slow, manual machines, but with CNC technology the key to success is speed.

Now you wouldn't build an aeroplane from stone, so if you want your CMM to fly it must be light. The Maxim is a new concept in CMM's, with its alloy frame specially designed to optimise acceleration and so reduce inspection times.

The measurement structure of the machine is completely detached from the supplied frame, which means that you can position the measurement volume almost anywhere, over a variety of structures or an existing surface table, or even an in-line process. You can even select your choice of probe without reducing the measurement range.
